He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, disregarding a traffic control device and making an improper turn, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported.
Police allegedly found a loaded .22 caliber Beretta handgun under the driver's seat of Montgomery's car and a .22 caliber Browning handgun with a scope under the passenger's seat.
His attorney told the newspaper Montgomery has a permit to carry concealed weapons, but did not have the paperwork with him.
Police said Montgomery was pulled over after running a red light then hitting a curb four times and crossing the center line three times. He reportedly failed a field sobriety test and refused a breathalyzer and a urine test.
His attorney said he expected most of the charges to be dropped.
