John Malkovich and Josh Brolin will star in a big-screen adaptation of the "Jonah Hex" comic-book series set to start shooting in April, Variety.com said.

The Warner Bros. movie, which is set shortly after the U.S. Civil War, is to be directed by Jimmy Hayward, whose film credits include "Dr. Seuss's Horton Hears a Who."
"Hex" was written by "Crank" scribes Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, Variety.com said.
Malkovich was most recently seen in "Burn After Reading" and "Changeling." Brolin is a current Oscar nominee for his work in "Milk." He has also starred in "W.,""American Gangster" and "No Country for Old Men."
