A 3-year-old border collie from Michigan that can open the fridge and flush the toilet has been named the most talented pet in the United States.
Toula, who belongs to Christine Mahaney, won Petco's "Most Talented Pet" competition over 600 other dogs, The Grand Rapids Press reported.
"I'm so proud of her. I started crying when I found out," Mahaney said. "It's not just that America voted for her, it's more about having people recognize what you can do with a dog, especially a rescue dog."
Toula was one of 100 dogs chosen during in-store preliminaries. Mahaney and her husband, Billy Stout, submitted a 60-second video that showed Toula fetching the newspaper and slippers as well as flushing the toilet.
In the final phase of the contest, 12 videos were posted online, and Toula got the most votes.
Toula will travel to Los Angeles with Mahaney and Stout to pose for print ads.
"She's taking it in stride," Mahaney said. "I think she's ready to start making some public appearances and showing people what she can do."
