Joel Madden says he and Nicole Richie are planning to get married

U.S. rocker Joel Madden says he plans to marry his pregnant girlfriend Nicole Richie.

"Obviously, marriage is in our future," the Good Charlotte front-man told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show in Los Angeles Tuesday. "I don't know when or where or how, but right now our priority is our family and is the baby. ... We are in love and are really happy."

Richie and Madden first announced they were expecting on "Good Morning America" in late July, People.com noted.

"Yes I am. We are. I'm almost four months," Richie revealed.

"We are all really excited about it," Madden told Seacrest. "It's the best thing that has ever happened to us. It's awesome."

The singer said he and Richie don't know if the baby is a boy or a girl.

"We're waiting. We don't even know. So, right now, it's an it, which sounds wrong. We call it 'the baby.' When we talk to it, it's a 'you,'" Madden said, adding that he and Richie have been hard at work setting up the baby's nursery.

"We've started it," he said. "I already went to Target and got a stroller and a playpen."
