Jill Clayburgh dies of chronic leukemia at her home at age 66

Jill Clayburgh has died of chronic leukemia at her home in Lakeville, Conn., her husband, the playwright David Rabe, said. She was 66.

The New York Times reported her death Friday.

The New York native was nominated for a best actress Oscar in 1978 for "An Unmarried Woman" and in 1979 for "Starting Over."

Her film credits include "Silver Streak," "Semi-Tough," "First Monday in October" and "I'm Dancing as Fast as I Can."

She appeared on TV's "Law & Order," "The Practice" and "Nip/Tuck," had a recurring role on "Ally McBeal" as Ally's mother and was a cast member of "Dirty Sexy Money." She was an accomplished stage actress, as well.

Clayburgh and Rabe married in 1978.

In addition to the playwright, the actress is survived by a daughter, the actress Lily Rabe; a son, Michael; a stepson, Jason; and a brother, James, The Times noted.
