Jennifer Lopez to reportedly return to 'American Idol' for season finale

By Elizabeth Kwiatkowski, 05/01/2013

Jennifer Lopez will reportedly be gracing American Idol with her presence once again.

The singer and former Idol judge will perform on the singing competition's twelfth-season finale, E! News reported.

Whether Lopez will be singing on the season's final performance show on Wednesday, May 15 or its final results show on Thursday, May 16 reportedly remains unclear. An Idol representative declined comment on the upcoming performance.
Speculation that Lopez will return to the show first surfaced last week with reports which claimed Idol producers were looking to bring her back as a judge to replace either Nicki Minaj or Mariah Carey.

"There will definitely be changes to the judging panel for next season," a source told E! News at the time. "Fox thought the Nicki-Mariah contrast would make for ratings, but there is concern it is like nails on [a] chalkboard for middle-America viewers."

However, a show representative denied the allegation that Idol planned to give Carey or Minaj the boot.

"This is just another ridiculous Idol judge rumor, likely started by talks of Jennifer performing on the finale," the representative told the website.
