The academy also said the Feb. 13 telecast will feature a performance of John Lennon and Paul McCartney's "Across The Universe" to raise funds for relief efforts related to December's South Asian tsunami. Bono, Stevie Wonder, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, Velvet Revolver, Tim McGraw and Brian Wilson are already lined up to participate in the performance and the academy said other artists will be joining in.
Viewers will be able to go to the iTunes Music Store to download the live performance for 99 cents, and to CBS.com, which will offer exclusive video of the segment. All proceeds from those downloads will go to tsunami relief efforts.
"Our Academy represents thousands of music people who, by the very definition of their creativity, are individuals with heart and compassion," said Neil Portnow, president of The Recording Academy.
