With the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild urging celebrities to not appear on the popular TV shows, the two hosts have decided to fill their vacant guest chairs by visiting one another's programs, The New York Times said Sunday.
While the cooperative visits will not be announced until Monday, representatives for the two TV personalities confirmed the unusual guest spots will occur.
The representatives said the decision came after the entertainment pair, who returned to television last Wednesday, became acquainted late last year.
The guest spots will mark the first time either host has appeared on the other's program, the Times said.
The hosts' representatives said Leno was the first to issue an guest spot invitation, but Kimmel immediately reciprocated.
