Foxx's conversation with Martin's parents, Tracy and Sybrina, and attorney/family advocate Benjamin Crump will debut on Saturday's edition of "The Foxxhole."
"I don't think there has ever been a story that has impacted me the way this story has," Foxx said in a statement.
Zimmerman, a Hispanic-American, has said the shooting was justified under Florida's stand-your-ground law because Martin attacked him. Zimmerman confronted Martin, who was walking in a gated community where Zimmerman was a neighborhood watch coordinator.
Prosecutors said Zimmerman profiled, pursued and killed the black 17-year-old in Sanford, Fla. The case is to go to trial in June.
Foxx's films include "Django Unchained," "The Soloist" and "Ray."
