A Chicago-area woman is suing legendary soul singer James Brown for $106 million claiming he raped her in 1988 and the stress gave her Grave's disease.

Jacque Hollander says Brown sexually assaulted her at gunpoint in South Carolina while they were in a van together, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Thursday.
Hollander's lawyer acknowledged the statute of limitations on rape ran out long ago but said the $106 million suit alleging false imprisonment and sexual assault is still valid because Hollander's doctor recently told her the thyroid disease she was diagnosed with in 2000 was caused by stress from the alleged 1988 attack.
Brown's lawyer promptly ripped Hollander.
"This is what you call a shakedown in its most stupid form," said lawyer Debra Opri. "It's too little, too late and baseless."
