'Idol 5' runner-up Katharine McPhee takes to Internet to refute rumors

"American Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee has used an online fan site to issue an open letter and debunk recent rumors about her.

E! Online reported the 22-year-old singer's open letter to her fans, posted on the KatharineFans.com Web site, refutes recent Internet rumors regarding her noticeable absence from this summer's ongoing Idols Live tour.
"I have heard a rumor that I will be missing the entire tour, I can assure you that that is completely false," McPhee wrote in her letter. "I am looking to join the tour around the 21st. That is the doctors (sic) orders, not mine."
McPhee, who came in second in voting during the hit series' fifth season, is currently suffering from a case of laryngitis and bronchitis.
In her posting, the singer promised her fans that she is not purposefully missing performances and hopes to reunite with the tour Friday in Rochester, N.Y., the Web site said.
