Ice Cube to star Mr. Kotter in 'Welcome Back Kotter' remake

Rapper/actor Ice Cube will take on the role of Mr. Kotter in the Hollywood remake of the hit 1970's TV show, "Welcome Back Kotter."

Ice Cube will produce the comedy via his CubeVision Productions, Daily Variety reported Tuesday.

The original series ran 1975 to 1979 and catapulted John "Vinnie Barbarino" Travolta to fame.

"There was no bigger fan of the original show than me, and I'm very excited to be able to put a new twist on it," Cube told Daily Variety.
