Hypnotist knocks himself out for audience

UPI News Service, 06/05/2011

A British entertainer literally knocked himself out for his audience, leaving several people in a trance before recovering, his manager said.

Hypnotist David Days, from Weymouth, was performing to a crowd at the Portland Royal Manor Theater in Dorset, England, Friday night when he tripped over an audience member's leg.

He was in the process of bringing three members of his audience out of a trance when he fell, striking his head, briefly leaving him unconscious, the Dorset Echo reported.

Fortunately, Days recovered in time to break the trance, but not before audience members had given him a round of applause, thinking the incident was part of his performance.

The audience was asked to leave the theater after Friday's incident, leaving the three people on stage.

Days, 37, came to a few minutes later and brought the trio out of their trance. Days, who performs magic and hypnotist shows in the region, was lying low after the accident.

His manager, Tara Nix, said Days was fine although the experience had "damaged his ego a bit."

In a later BBC report, Days refused to comment about claims by the Dorset theater the episode was "a joke." However, he admitted reports weren't telling the full story.

Days said he will sell the "real and complete story" to a national newspaper.
