'House of Cards' production hiatus on final season extended

UPI News Service, 11/27/2017

The production hiatus on the sixth and final season of "House of Cards" will continue into December, Netflix and production partner Media Rights Capital announced Sunday.

Production on the political drama was halted in October after star Kevin Spacey faced a number of sexual harassment allegations -- including one from "Star Trek Discovery" actor Anthony Rapp.

Media Rights Capital sent a letter to the cast and crew of the show from senior VP of television business and legal affairs Pauline Micelli stated that they will be paid for an additional two-week hiatus starting Nov. 27 through Dec. 8.

"The one thing we have learned throughout this process is that this production is bigger than just one person and we could not be more proud to be associated with one of the most loyal and talented production cast and crews in this business," Micelli wrote.

Micelli said that an update on the show's production will be given on the Dec. 8 deadline.

Spacey will reportedly be written out of the final season after Netflix stated that they "will not be involved with any further production of 'House of Cards' that includes Kevin Spacey."
