Lorraine Cummings told The Scotsman a surgeon at the hospital in Inverness told her that her daughter Kimberly's teeth were classified as "body parts." Cummings had promised Kimberly she could leave the teeth under her pillow to make her more comfortable with the dental surgery.
Kimberly had one rotten tooth, and the dental surgeon removed three more to ensure that the infection would not spread.
A spokeswoman for the National Health Service said treating teeth as body parts is standard procedure, especially when an infection is involved so Kimberly went home without her four teeth.
