The decision to hold a party with a red light district theme at Sweden's Halmstad University has drawn strong criticism from some students.

The party planned by the school's student union had been intended to add some much-needed life during the cold winter months, but The Local said Saturday the party planners are now in hot water.
Students such as Gina Kling said advertising the party with the label "the mark of sin," student union officials went too far.
"It's upsetting that they don't care about trafficking and the debasement of women," she said.
Good thing those students never heard of the student union's original plan for the party: a "pimp and hos" event.
"We decided it was a bit strong and could cause offense. Now that we have a lot of foreign students at the college, including Muslims, we put more and more thought into not causing offense," student union chairwoman Ulrika Sellman said of the ill-conceived original party idea.
