Michael Ventura, 25, escaped the prison by scaling a security fence, but his pants -- caught in the razor wire -- were left behind, KITV-TV, Honolulu reported Tuesday.
The pantless Ventura did not go unnoticed.
"(A witness) saw a male running from this area from the foremost parking lot toward Tesoro gas station across the street he had a brown paper bag or a brown piece of cardboard wrapped around his waist," said Detective Larry Lawson, of the Honolulu Police Department.
Ventura had two weeks left to serve on a 90-day sentence. He now faces five years in prison because of the escape, officials said.
