The BBC reports Hitler painted the picture in 1924. It fetched 5,200 pounds ($9,200) at auction in Lostwithiel in Cornwall. The collector who sold it acquired it from a friend of Otto Gunsche, Hitler's personal assistant.
Hitler turned out hundreds of sketches and paintings during his life. While his attempt as a young man to become a professional artist was notably unsuccessful, his later infamy as turned many of his works into museum pieces.
