Mills isn't always represented by attorneys charging as much as $29,000 a day in fees in her legal action against McCartney, the Daily Mail said Thursday. While her legal bill could total as much as $1.3 million, she could receive as much as $1 billion of the former Beatle's fortune.
Mills has a financial adviser and retained a London law firm for the main divorce issues of money and custody of the couple's 3-year-old daughter Beatrice, a friend of Mills said. But in ancillary matters, she decided to appear in court alone.
The friend said Mills "has to be careful about the size of the legal bills" and representing herself is one way she can reduce costs.
Mills, 38, represented herself in the High Court recent and in motions to keep McCartney out of her home and to gain access to his.
