The premium cable network HBO Wednesday announced it will run a second season of its Sunday night polygamy drama, "Big Love."

Although ratings are not overwhelming, HBO usually gives its dramas two seasons to catch on with viewers, Daily Variety reported, pointing to "Rome" and "Carnivale."

"Big Love" is produced by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman's Playtone Productions, which is also working on "John Adams," a miniseries based on the David McCullough books, and "The Pacific," 13-part collaboration with Steven Spielberg for HBO, Variety said.

Bill Paxton stars in "Big Love" as a man who is married to three women, played by Chloe Sevigny, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Ginnifer Goodwin.
