HBO planning to turn 'Dead Ringers' movie into weekly TV series

HBO is working with David Cronenberg to turn his 1988 cult thriller "Dead Ringers" into a weekly series.

Cronenberg is directing the pilot to be written by Wesley Strick, Daily Variety reported Friday.

The original "Dead Ringers" starred Jeremy Irons as twin gynecologists who go insane after falling in love with the same woman.

Cronenberg's most recent TV work was a guest starring role on ABC's "Alias."
