The "Indiana Jones" star left his wife, Melissa Mathison, shortly after hitting 60 in 2003 and took up with actress Calista Flockhart, 23 years his junior.
"I am not the first man who wanted to make changes in his life at 60 and I won't be the last," the World Entertainment News Network quoted Ford as saying. "It is just that others can do it with anonymity."
Noting he had the ability to change through acting, Ford said he decided to change the way he was living his life, adding: "That's not such a bad thing, is it?"
Ford said his divorce caught a lot of people by surprise. But Ford also showed those who wrote off his now three-year relationship with Flockhart as a midlife crisis.
"They wondered what was happening to me. I was very much aware of what was happening. I'm living the way I want to live."
