A Dunbar, Scotland, family said an escaped hamster was caught in a trap after firefighters failed to nab the animal, which was hiding under the kitchen.

Angela Appleby said her daughter, Zoe, 6, had been hamster-sitting the small mammal, named Fudgie, for a friend when it escaped from its cage and began evading capture attempts, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.
Appleby said firefighters tried to lure the hamster out of hiding with a chocolate-coated mini-camera and even disassembled the kitchen cooker and gas pipes in their pursuit of Fudgie.
However, she said it was not until the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals suggested using baited cages that the hamster was brought out of hiding.
"It was like Christmas morning," Appleby said. "Zoe sat in her pajamas in front of Fudgie's cage and watched her for ages. She said 'I love you Fudgie.'"
