The employees of SMART technologies in Ottawa, Ontario, said they won the jackpot from the Lotto 6/49 drawing Wednesday, the same day 10 of them received layoff notices, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Friday.
"We all know that $400,000 (U.S. $403,716) doesn't make you rich. That comfort zone for the rest of your life is the nice story," said Tony Mather, 50, one of the winners.
Another winner, Colin Willard, said the group is planning to visit Toronto to claim their prize Friday.
