The Thursday night fundraiser featured couture clothing, gold rings, mink coats and a gown worn to President John F. Kennedy's inauguration, The Washington Post reported Saturday.
Goodwill has seen a 6 percent spike in sales nationwide as the economy has worsened in the last year, said Catherine Meloy, president and chief executive of Goodwill of Greater Washington, who wore a fuchsia evening gown.
"You, too, can buy this for $28," said Meloy, twirling on stage during the fashion show and extolling the virtues of Goodwill's job training programs.
