Authorities in Florida said they are trying to collect on 1,029 traffic tickets that were kept out of the system for as long as two years by a computer glitch.

The Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts office said the tickets, which total an estimated $150,000, were discovered during a recent audit, the Palm Beach (Fla.) Post reported Tuesday.
The motorists now have until June 6 to pay the fines, the clerk's office said.
Capt. Mark Welch, a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol, said the tickets were lost due to problems with the relatively new electronic filing system.
Attorney Bill Abramson said he believes the tickets should be dismissed because the law requires tickets to be filed within a year and motorists must be called into court within six months to comply with speedy trial regulations.
