Denver, 70, died Friday with his wife, Dreama, and four children by his side at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, "Entertainment Tonight" reported Tuesday.

Denver was best known to TV viewers as the hapless sailor Gilligan and beatnick Maynard G. Krebs from the 1950s comedy "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis."

The family said there would be no memorial for the actor and asked that donations be sent to the Denver Foundation, Inc., P.O. 931, Princeton, W.V. 24740, or via his Web site, www.bobdenver.com.

The charity benefits handicapped residents of Denver's home state of West Virginia, "ET" reported.
