"I'm so bummed I won't be able to make it to China this year. Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!!" the model wrote on Twitter Thursday.

"Can't wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can't wait for next year! :) x," Hadid continued without giving a reason for her absence.

Hadid and her sister Bella, the daughters of former "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Yolanda Hadid, announced that they would be walking the runway at the show scheduled for Tuesday in August.

Hadid has come under fire for a Snapchat video released earlier this year in which the 22-year-old was seen making fun of Asian facial features which may have led to her dropping out of the show, People magazine reported.

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is set to feature 18 new models including newcomers Estelle Chen and Victoria Lee along with veterans such as Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima and Behati Prinsloo.
