Gerard Depardieu urinated on an airplane carpet after flight crew told him he could not use the bathroom, Air France confirmed Wednesday.

Depardieu, 62, has starred in more than 100 films, including "Green Card" and "The Man in the Iron Mask."

The New York Post said he pleaded with staff to let him use the rest room when a flight from Paris to Dublin was delayed Tuesday night. When the attendants refused to let him do so, he unzipped his pants and urinated on the floor while horrified passengers watched, the newspaper said.

The jet returned to the gate and the flight was delayed for two more hours as ground crew cleaned up the floor.

The Post said Air France confirmed the incident to French television, but it was unclear whether action would be taken against the film star.
