'Fruitvale' and 'Blood Brother' win at Sundance Film Festival

The Sundance Film Festival in Utah has concluded, with "Fruitvale" winning the top U.S. prize for drama and "Blood Brother" winning as top U.S. documentary.

"Fruitvale" is based on the real-life story of a young man who was shot to death at an Oakland bus station. It was the first feature-length film by 26-year-old director Ryan Coogler, the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday.

The film also won the audience award for best U.S. drama.

"Blood Brother" was filmmaker Steve Hoover's look at his friend's relocation to India to help children with HIV, the human immunodeficiency virus. The film also won the audience award for best U.S. documentary.

"Jiseul," directed by Muel O, a film about the Jeju Island massacre in Korea in 1948, won the the World Cinema Jury Prize for drama, the Times reported.

"A River Changes Course" won for the World Cinema Jury Prize for documentary.
