Former supermodel Christie Brinkley is parting ways with her husband of nearly 10 years, architect Peter Cook, with whom she'd lived in New York's Hamptons.

The couple has one child together, 8-year-old Sailor Lee. Her soon-to-be ex-husband adopted her son, Jack, 11, when the couple married in September 1996, E! Online reported. Brinkley also has a daughter Alexa from her marriage to musician Billy Joel.

"Christie's primary interest at this difficult time is for the protection of her children and (she) would be most appreciative if people would be good enough to respect her privacy," Brinkley's spokesperson Elliott Mintz said, The Insider reported.

Brinkley, 52, signed a multiyear contract in 2005 to return to modeling for CoverGirl for its Advanced Radiance line for more mature women. She had been the makeup line's face from 1976 to 1996, reportedly the longest-running cosmetics contract ever signed by a model, E! Online reported.
