Investigators did not offer many details about Cable's death, but told the BBC there were no suspicious circumstances. An autopsy is to be conducted this week, police said.
Cable presided over his rock show on BBC Radio Wales Saturday, the British broadcaster said.
The musician formed Stereophonics in 1992 with his school friends Kelly and Richard Jones. He left the group in 2003 and formed the band Killing for Company, which has a new album due out soon, the BBC said.
