Greg Louganis wants to personally experience the success a few former Olympic champs have had on Dancing with the Stars.

"I want to be on Dancing with the Stars. It would be such a blast," the four-time Olympic gold medalist diver told People in a Friday report.

Louganis said before he competed in the Olympics in the 1980s -- including when he bashed his head on a diving board at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, requiring stitches -- he was a dancer as a child.

While he wouldn't mind reliving some of his dancing memories, he could apparently do without the costumes.

"I don't know about the outfits, but I've worn worse," he told People, adding as a child he wore "sequins, headbands and poofy sleeves" for jazz routines.

Speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno (Season 4), figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi (Season 6), and gymnast Shawn Johnson (Season 7) are all former Olympic champs who have claimed Dancing with the Stars mirror ball trophies.

In addition to thinking that following in the footsteps would be fun, Louganis said he's up for the challenge the show presents.

"I've never done ballroom but I want to try," he told People. "Dance really captures something you just can't put into words."

Dancing with the Stars' tenth season will premiere March 22 on ABC.
