UPI News Service, 10/04/2005

Former "ER" star Eriq La Salle has signed a talent and production deal with CBS aimed at bringing him back aboard primetime TV.

La Salle said the deal he inked with Leslie Moonves at CBS -- the same guy who signed him to NBC's "ER" years ago -- is like coming home," Daily Variety reports.

"It's a homecoming that feels very comfortable for me," La Salle said.

The high six-figure deal has La Salle co-creating his own starring vehicle for CBS and his Humble Journey Filmsbanner developing programming with Paramount Studios, Variety said.

"This is a deal where we're as interested in the development component as much as the acting component," Paramount's David Stapf said. "Eriq's become a really skilled filmmaker and we're (looking forward) to hearing what ideas he has."

La Salle recently wrapped production on the film "Johnny Was," opposite Samantha Mumba and Roger Daltrey, Variety said.
