Former 'Double Shot at Love' star Rikki Mongeon in coma after crash

Former A Double Shot at Love star Erica "Rikki" Mongeon has been placed in a medically-induced coma following a Tuesday morning car crash.

Mongeon and her twin sister Victoria "Vikki" Mongeon -- who also co-starred in the MTV reality dating competition -- were passengers in a VW Jetta traveling through Bakersfield, CA around 12:20AM Tuesday morning when their car collided with a semi-truck, TMZ reported Wednesday.

While Vikki and the Jetta's driver were not seriously injured, TMZ reported Rikki was rushed to the intensive care unit at a local hospital.

The girls' manager told TMZ that Rikki was subsequently placed in the medically-induced coma, however doctors are optimistic about her recovery.

A Double Shot at Love -- the third season of MTV's A Shot at Love reality dating series -- premiered in December 2008 and followed the sisters as they whittled down a group of suitors consisting of 12 straight men and 12 gay women.

Almost two months before the show even premiered, bachelorette Kandice Hutchison was killed in a Texas car crash. Police subsequently alleged that Hutchison was drunk and street racing at the time of the crash.
