Former 'Dancing' star Ian Ziering "disappointed" about 'Price' snub

By Christopher Rocchio, 07/26/2007

Dancing with the Stars' fourth season apparently reminded former Beverly Hills 90210 actor Ian Ziering what celebrity status tasted like -- leaving him hungry for more and hoping to replace recently retired The Price is Right host Bob Barker.

Alas, CBS announced Monday that it was giving the gig to comedian Drew Carey, a decision that apparently left Ziering down in the dumps.

"I guess I was a little disappointed," he told People at Tuesday's The Simpsons Movie premiere in Westwood, CA. "I was really kind of hoping that would happen."

CBS presumably went with Carey due to his hosting credentials, which include ABC's Whose Line Is It Anyway? and CBS' new Power of 10 game show.  Still, Ziering apparently had high hopes he'd be tabbed as Barker's replacement.

"For the last month, I've been so titillated, my family has been excited at the mere notion of me hosting The Price is Right," Ziering told People.  "Unfortunately, it didn't go my way.  But they got a great host in Drew Carey. I've always been a big fan of his. I think he's going to do great."

But with his showbiz career back the upswing due to the exposure he received during his fourth-place finish on Dancing with the Stars' fourth season, Ziering remains optimistic.

"I'm in a great space right now," he told People. "I feel good. Everything is going in the right direction... That's one thing about this business, that there are so many mediums to perform in. I'm not really too bummed, because something else usually turns up."
