Britney Spears' former bodyguard insists he is not out to "destroy" the U.S. pop singer by disclosing details about her hard-partying ways.

In an interview with NBC News' "Today," Tony Barretto said he submitted a declaration describing Spears' erratic behavior, drinking and occasional drug use in court last week "to make sure that the public and the court and her fans know the truth."
A judge, who is overseeing the dispute between Spears and her ex-husband Kevin Federline over the custody of their two young sons, last week ordered Spears to undergo random, twice-weekly tests for drugs and alcohol and take parenting classes.
Asked if he thought the judge had done enough, Barretto told Matt Lauer: "In my personal opinion, I'm just happy that the judge has stepped in and put some elements in place to give her hope.
"I'm not here to destroy Britney," Barretto said. "I'm here for the kids. I'm here to speak out on their behalf because of my frustrations at the time when I worked for her on not being able to protect them from her, and I have accomplished that now."
