Former "American Idol" finalist Michael Johns died Friday due to a blood clot in his ankle, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed. He was 35.

The Australian appeared on Season 7 of the reality singing competition in 2008.

The then-29-year-old auditioned for the show singing "I've Been Loving You Too Long" by Otis Redding.

He is survived by a wife, Stacey.
