The Kellogg Co. said "a confluence of events," including flooding at its Atlanta plant, have caused a nationwide Eggo frozen waffle shortage.

The company said the popular waffles are expected to be in short supply across the United States through the first half of next year, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Wednesday.

Kellogg said one major factor in the shortage was a temporary halt in production at its Atlanta plant in September due to flooding from heavy rains. Company officials said the Eggo supply was further hit by equipment problems at its largest waffle bakery in Rossville, Tenn.

"We are working around the clock to restore Eggo store inventories to normal levels as quickly as possible," Kellogg representative Kris Charles said.
