The Chicago maker of a gastric bypass kit available on Amazon.com said the product was not meant for consumer purchase.

The firm, Medline, said the $264 surgery kit wound up on the Internet retail site accidentally, Seattle's KIRO-FM reported Tuesday.
"It was a mistake that it was on Amazon," Medline spokesman John Marks said. "This is purely for hospital use by doctors and surgeons, and it is not for sale to consumers."
It was not known Tuesday whether any consumers purchased the kit from the Web site, but Marks urged anyone possessing the product to "return it."
"This is not for consumers to purchase and we don't want confusion in the marketplace," he said.
