Fifth Harmony is going on an indefinite hiatus six years after being created as a group on Season 2 of The X Factor.

Fifth Harmony's four remaining group members Dinah Jane, Normani Kordei, Ally Brooke and Lauren Jauregui announced the shocking news Monday on Twitter, admitting that they'd like to take some time off as a unit in order to pursue "solo endeavors."

"Reflecting on the past six years since we started on X-Factor, we've realized just how far we've come and we appreciate everything so much, more now than ever," the group tweeted.

"We've really had one hell of a memorable journey together and can't begin to express our gratitude to y'all for coming along with us on this wild ride! After six years going hard, non-stop, we also realized that in order to stay authentic to ourselves and to you, we do need to take some time for now to go on a hiatus from Fifth Harmony in order to pursue solo endeavors."

There doesn't appear to be discourse among group members, but rather a mutual respect and consideration for each other girl's needs and goals.

"We are all very excited and grateful to be able to take this time to learn and grow creatively and really find our footing as individuals. In doing this we are allowing ourselves to gain new experiences, strengths and perspectives that we can bring back to our Fifth Harmony family," the group continued in its statement.

Fifth Harmony then thanked their fans for their support.

"To our Harmonizers, thank you for everything we have been able to build as Fifty Harmony. With your love and encouragement we will continue to build on ourselves, support one another in everything we do, and keep making you proud, each other proud and ourselves proud," the group wrote on Twitter.

"We do have some upcoming shows through the end of the year which will still happen as planned, and we can't wait! All our love, from the bottom of our hearts, Dinah Jane, Lauren, Normani and Ally xoxoxo."

Fifth Harmony already lost a member, with Camila Cabello choosing to leave the group in December 2016. Fifth Harmony considered their fans the fifth member of the band following Camila's unexpected and "hurtful" exit.

As for Camila's solo career, it's currently exploding, as she has released huge chart-topping hits such as "Havana" and "Never Be the Same."

The remaining group members, however, have also previously dabbled in some successful individual projects.

Normani, for example, released her single "Love Lies" with Khalid in February and competed on the most recent season of Dancing with the Stars. Normani and her professional partner Val Chmerkovskiy made it to the finale of Season 24 and claimed third place.

Dinah Jane released "Boom Boom" with RedOne, Daddy Yankee and French Montana in October 2017, and Lauren launched her song "All Night" with Steve Aoki in January. As for Ally, she released "Perfect" with Topic that same month.

Fifth Harmony is behind monster hits including "Work from Home," "Worth It," and "All In My Head."

The group's original five members were put together on The X Factor after each girl auditioned for the show's second season separately as solo artists. Executive producer and judge Simon Cowell decided to make them into a band for the "Group" category at the time.

Fans began taking Fifth Harmony seriously once they had time to blend their different sounds and vocals and nailed a harmonized performance of "Anything Could Happen" on The X Factor. The band ended up finishing in third place.
