A Chicagoan accused of escaping from jail and robbing banks in three states before surrendering in Ohio now says the food in federal lockup makes him ill.

The lawyer for Randy Rencher asked officers at Chicago's Metropolitan Correctional Center to inspect the food before giving it to Rencher, who claimed the fare he was fed Friday made him "severely ill," the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Rencher said his meals "appeared dirty and otherwise disturbed," attorney John Kennedy said in court documents.
A Metropolitan Correctional Center spokesman said the complaint would be investigated.
"We don't get very many complaints about the food," Vincent Shaw said.
Rencher was arrested in Cleveland in November following last summer's escape from the Cook County (Ill.) jail while wearing a guard's uniform.
He was accused of robbing at least eight banks in Illinois, Texas and Ohio, where he surrendered at a bar while watching media reports about the search for him.
