Alexa Cach, fashion director of the event, told the New York Post it was time for animal fashion to be unleashed.
"Pet couture has been driven by pink bows and celebrity for too long," she said. "Pet fashion is an industry that is here to stay."
Among the items on sale at the show is a $5,500 dog's wedding dress with a 10-foot train by Emma Rose Design. A $250,000 diamond dog collar has already been purchased, the newspaper said.
Phoebe's Inc., is offering a $195 blue party dress for dogs and cashmere dog apparel in the $200 range, the report said.
