Ex: Jake Pavelka professed his love for me after 'The Bachelor' filmed

By Christopher Rocchio, 03/17/2010

Jake Pavelka's ex-girlfriend has alleged that he professed his love to her over the phone almost immediately after he got engaged to Vienna Girardi during the filming for The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love's finale last fall.

"He said, 'But Tanya I do want to let you know ever since I saw you get on that plane in Asheville that I've never loved anyone more,'" ex-girlfriend Tanya Douglas claimed during a Wednesday appearance on Inside Edition.

"They may be happy now, but I know what he told me immediately following their engagement."

Due to Pavelka's alleged admission that he was still in love with her, Douglas said she watched The Bachelor: On the Wings' finale in "disbelief" when she saw him propose to Girardi.

"If I were in Vienna's shoes, I would consider it absolutely cheating," said Douglas about Pavelka's phone conversations with her.

Douglas said she and Pavelka first met two years ago when she was passenger on a flight from Asheville, NC to Florida.

"He and I had a chemistry," she told Inside Edition. "We had a very, very special bond that I don't think most people find in a lifetime."

The relationship got so serious that Douglas said Pavelka even met her parents.

"He had a private conversation with my farther, saying 'I love your daughter. I think that God led us to be together. I have every intention of having a life with her,'" recalled Douglas, adding she "knew" Pavelka was the one.

In addition, Douglas also reiterated a previous claim that Pavelka told her their relationship was not necessarily over despite his decision to star in The Bachelor after they had been dating for five months.

"He said, 'Tanya I love you. I'm not going on the show to find love and I know I found love with you. But we just need to put our relationship on the shelf,'" she said, adding at the time she didn't think they'd ever get back together.

"Of course it was over. But putting your relationship 'on the shelf' is not the same as breaking up with someone."

Still, Douglas said there was hope when Pavelka allegedly attempted to reunite with her after filming only to already be engaged to Girardi.

"The person I fell in love with is not the same person that everyone saw on TV," she said. "Not at all. I fell in love with maybe what I feel was a lie."

Pavelka has previously denied that he attempted to reunite with Douglas after filming for The Bachelor and reiterated that denial in a statement to Inside Edition.

"The relationship was prior to The Bachelor. It simply did not work out," he said. "It is unfortunate that people such as this are trying to disparage my incredible relationship with Vienna."
