The 700-square-foot studio went on sale Tuesday, with a minimum required bid of $215,000. Marshall Mathers III used the Ferndale property in 1997 to record his CD, "The Slim Shady LP," the Detroit News reported Wednesday.
It was released in 1999 and has since sold nearly 5 million copies.
"The recording studio is still intact, but the equipment is not part of the sale," said David Giltner, senior vice president of Grubb & Ellis, a real estate firm in Southfield that's listing the property. "It's in great shape and was recently renovated."
The building is owned by producer A.J. Abdullah, who helped Eminem record "The Slim Shady LP."
