UPI News Service, 01/15/2006

The suburban Detroit wedding of rap superstar Marshall Mathers, aka Eminem, and his ex-wife, Kim, was described as quietly dignified.

The wedding was a "real classy, intimate affair, a guest at the Saturday event at Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester Hills, Mich., told the Detroit Free Press.

About 85 guests watched the processional as Detroit musician Luis Resto played the instrumental line to Eminem's song, "Mockingbird," on the piano. The bride wore a traditional white gown while the groom was outfitted in a black suit.

Absent from the event were Mathers' mother, his maternal grandmother, and Kimberly Mathers' twin sister, Dawn Scott, the Free Press said. Rapper 50 Cent and members of Eminem's Detroit crew D-12 attended the "surprisingly mellow but very touching event," the source said.

Afterward, the guests dined on steak and lobster and children danced to a DJ spinning Top 40 hits.

"It was one of the most peaceful weddings I've ever been to," a guest told the Free Press. "This is exactly what Marshall has been looking for."
