Elton John and David Furnish became one of the first couples to take advantage of England's new civil partnership law Wednesday.
The newlyweds posed for pictures, accepted gifts and blew kisses to a throng of well-wishers waiting outside after their late morning ceremony.
An estimated 700 same-sex couples were expected to take advantage of the new law on its inaugural day in England and Wales, the BBC said.
The first civil union ceremonies were performed Monday in Northern Ireland and the law spreads to Scotland Thursday.
John and Furnish had a gala reception planned at their home Wednesday night.
