'Duets' eliminates Bridget Carrington and determines Final 3 amateur duet partners
By Elizabeth Kwiatkowski, 07/13/2012
Duets eliminated Bridget Carrington during Thursday night's performance show, which revealed the duet singing competition's final three contestants heading into the show's first-season finale.
"I've had this dream forever. It's what I'm supposed to be doing, so I gotta step out onstage and make it happen. Lights, cameras, action!" Bridget said in a video package broadcast after her elimination.
Bridget was ousted after Duets host Quddus revealed she had received the fewest home viewer votes following last week's live performance show -- which had featured the competition's four remaining contestants performing duets with celebrity partners and established recording artists John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Nettles, and Robin Thicke.
John Glosson received the second fewest votes and was the other contestant in danger of elimination prior to Quddus' announcement.
Bridget had been partnered with John Legend while John Glosson is partnered with Jennifer.
"It's been so much fun working with Bridget. From the first time I saw her on YouTube and looked at her video clip, I really felt like she belonged on this show and I'm glad I got the chance to sing with her," John Legend told Quddus after the elimination results were revealed.
After Bridget's ouster, the three remaining contestants -- J Rome, Jason Farol and John Glosson -- each sang a new duet with their celebrity partner along with a solo performance.
Jennifer and J Rome sang "Breakeven" together and then J Rome followed it with "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)" for his solo song.
Jason and Kelly performed "Me & Mrs. Jones" for their duet, and then Jason sang "Runaway Baby" for his solo.
John Glosson and Jennifer took the stage and sang "The Prayer" together, while John returned for his solo number in which he performed "Bless the Broken Road" afterwards.
During next week's finale broadcast, one of the three remaining contestants will be crowned winner of Duets based on the home-viewer votes cast following last night's performance episode.
