Police in Slidell were dispatched to a pay telephone Sunday, when a man called 911 saying he would kill someone if he didn't get a lift to the bus station, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported Tuesday.
Deputies found the man "intoxicated and belligerent beyond the point of reason," St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Tiffany Tate said.
James Brown, 40, missed his bus.
He was arrested and taken to the parish jail where he was booked for misuse of 911, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine upon conviction.
