Eight drag queens took to a New Jersey stage to compete for the title in the Miss'd America Pageant.
Kitty Hiccups of Weehawkin, N.J., the stage alter ego of David Hyland, took the title at Sunday night's event at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall, The Press of Atlantic City reported Monday.
Organizers said they sold more than 1,200 tickets to the event, a spoof of the popular Miss America pageant, not counting tickets sold at the door.
Kitty Hiccups took the top prize after wowing judges with a rendition of "I Wanna Be a Rockette," while other musical acts included Navaya Shay, real name Thom Gait, performing a Lady Gaga number.
The pageant, which was organized by the Greater Atlantic City GLBT Alliance and the Schultz-Hill Scholarship Foundation, raised funds for several area charities.
